A student who walked from Nsukka town to Enugu in order to meet the new governor, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, was turned back after completing the 50 kilometre marathon.<br />

A student who walked from Nsukka town to Enugu in order to meet the new governor, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, was turned back after completing the 50 kilometre marathon.<br />
<br />
Asogwa Stanley, a final student of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), completed his 50 kilometre marathon on Monday evening, after taking off around 8am the same day.<br />

He jogged to some prominent places in the coal city before he proceeded to the government house where some friends and well-wishers were there to welcome him.<br />
<br />
Unfortunately, Stanley was security men at the gate told him that Ugwuanyi and his Deputy were absent.<br />
<br />
But his ardour was not dampened by what some will see as a disappointment.<br />
<br />
He told journalists that he is happy for the governor's election victory and the trek was his own way of showing his joy.<br />
<br />
“it gives me much joy that Nsukka man eventually became the Governor of Enugu State," Stanley said.<br />
<br />
"I want to use the race to express my happiness on the development”.<br />
<br />
“As a student, I don’t have money to organize events for him like others might have done, but I know I can embark on this distant race and I have succeeded in doing so.<br />
<br />
"I really thank God for giving me the strength”.<br />
<br />
He assured Ugwuanyi that the youth are behind him as he takes charge in the state.

At today's plenary session, the Chairman, Senate Committee on Rules and  Business, Senator Ita Enang, announced all 46 bills before the house and  then Senate President, David Mark, immediately called for votes on all  the 46.<br />
<br />
He gave consent to all the "Ayess" which resulted in a rowdy  session as those who were against the manner in which the bills were  passed voiced their objection. The Senate President however told the  aggrieved Senators to come tomorrow for consideration.

Police Says Suicide Bomber Screamed “Sai Buhari” Before Killing 5 In Maiduguri

The Police in Borno said five persons died when a suicide bomber attacked an abattoir in Maiduguri on Tuesday.<br />

The Commissioner of Police in the State, Aderemi Opadokun, stated this when he spoke with journalists in Maiduguri.<br />
<br />
Mr. Opadokun said the attack occurred at about 11.30 a.m.<br />

“A suicide bomber, who was shouting “Sai Buhari”, and dancing in the abattoir, detonated Improvised Explosive Device strapped on his body when people had gathered around him.<br />
<br />
“Five people, including himself, died, while eight others sustained injuries,” he said.<br />
<br />
Mr. Opadokun added that policemen were mobilised to the scene to evacuate the corpses and the convey the injured to the hospital, adding that investigation into the blast was ongoing.

Buhari Orders Military Central Command To Relocte To Borno

President Muhammdau Buhari on Friday in Abuja directed the central command of the military to relocate to Maiduguri, Borno, to intensify the fight against Boko Haram insurgency.Buhari, who gave the directive in his address after his inauguration, said it was impossible to achieve victory against the insurgents if the command continued to operate from Abuja.<br />

He said that the command center would relocate and remain in Maiduguri until the insurgents were subdued.<br />
